Target audience

Target audience is important as this is going to be the thing that dictates the language used and also how portable it will be.

  • Windows Games
  • XBox 360
  • Cross Platform (Windows/Unix)

Let's discuss a few Pros and Cons about these.

I guess I will start with this; I would say that we should go for the biggest market share of the game universe which is primarily in Windows.  One that I forgot to mention was Java; although not completely robust, the option is there and would provide access to both Windows and Linux platforms (although excluding 360).  My thought is to go with the simplest solution for the time being; possibly XNA or Java and if the game catches on look to expand to a Windows C++ or Linux C++ based system.
